Instagram today announced that its updating its Direct tab to make it easier to converse with your friends, no matter how you decide to do it.
The new Instagram Direct Tab will combine texts and reshares that you send along with disappearing photos and videos. Currently, the texts and reshares and separated from the disappearing photos in the Direct tab, with the disappearing images appearing above the texts and reshares. This update will combine them into a single thread.
The goal of this update is to make it easier to go back and forth with your friends. Previously you might have to jump between two different sections in the Direct tab if your friend sent a disappearing photo but then sent a permanent photo to you, but with this new update, those communications will appear in the same thread.
Instagram says that this updated Direct functionality is now rolling out.
