Google Home already functions as your personal assistant, telling you your schedule, weather forecast, and more, and now it can be your sous chef, too.
Google is adding step-by-step recipes to Google Home. This feature will include more than five million recipes from sources like Bon Appetite, The New York Times, Food Network, and more.
To access the feature, you can launch Google Assistant on your Android phone or Google Search on your Android or iOS device. Once you find a recipe that you want to try, tap the “Send to Google Home” button and your recipe will be saved. When you’re ready to cook, say “Ok Google, start cooking” or “Ok Google, start recipe.”
Once you’re cooking, you can use commands like “Ok Google, repeat” and “Ok Google, what’s step two?”.
Google says that this feature will roll out over the coming week. It’s a pretty nifty addition to Google Home because sometimes when you’re cooking, you’ve got your hands full or covered in food and you’re unable to turn the page in a recipe book or tap the screen of your phone. Now Google Home owners can get the steps to their recipe hands-free.
