Google may invest $880 million into LG Display for Pixel 2 screens

Google Pixel XL hands-on review

Google is reportedly making a big investment for its new Pixel phones.

A new report from Korea’s Electronic Times claims that Google is offering to invest 1 trillion won ($880.29 million USD) in LG Display. Google reportedly wants to make sure it’s got a steady supply of flexible OLED screens for its upcoming Pixel smartphones.

While it doesn’t sound like any deal has been made yet, this rumor suggests that Google is focusing on securing enough supply of its next Pixel phones. The news that Google may be investing in a supply of flexible OLED screens suggests that the next Pixel phones could have curved edge displays, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+, but that’s very much unconfirmed at this point.
