Google reportedly bringing affordable Android One program to US

Android One official

Google’s Android One program has been offering affordable phones with fast updates in international markets since 2014, and soon the program may be coming to the US.

Google will launch its first Android One phone in the US before the middle of 2017, say sources speaking to The Information. It’s expected that the device will be sold for $200 to $300, and it’ll be guaranteed timely software updates for two years from its launch date. However, it's unclear which company will manufacture the phone.

The Android One program could be a nice addition to the US wireless market. Now that Google is focusing its efforts on the premium smartphone segment with the Pixel and Pixel XL, some folks are missing the days of affordable Nexus smartphones. With their aggressive pricing and timely software updates, Android One phones could take that place in the US market.
