Details on HTC's first Android One phone leak out

Recent rumors have suggested that Motorola may be prepping its first Android One phone, and now details on another major manufacturer’s first Android One device have leaked.

HTC is prepping an Android One version of a smartphone codenamed “Ocean Life.” The device will run vanilla Android Oreo, says frequent HTC leaker @LlabTooFeR, but it will retain some Sense features.

The HTC features expected to make the cut into the Android One version of Ocean Life include Edge Sense for squeezing the sides of the phone to perform actions, USonic to adapt the sound profile of the phone to optimize your listening experience, and the HTC Camera app.

Below you can see an image of the normal Ocean Life, complete with a custom HTC user interface. This image is meant to give us an idea of what the hardware for HTC’s Android One phone will look like.

Details on HTC’s launch plans for its Android One phone are still light, so it’s not clear when it might be released or how much it might cost when it does arrive.

It’s interesting to hear rumblings of another major phone maker joining Android One. Xiaomi recently introduced its first Android One device and now we’ve got rumors that say that Motorola and HTC might be getting in on the effort, too, which probably excites Google since it means its Android One program is getting more interest from big phone makers. Here’s to hoping this means that we’ll start to see Android One phones in more countries around the world, too, including the U.S.
