Just as was rumored, Samsung has introduced a Lite version of last year's Galaxy S8 flagship.
The Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury is now official, and its design is similar to the Galaxy S8. That includes its Infinity Display with slim bezels, physical Bixby button, and a rear fingerprint reader that's placed to the right of the rear camera, not below it like on the Galaxy S9.
While the design of the Galaxy S Light Luxury is similar to the Galaxy S8, the two don't share spec sheets. For example, the Galaxy S Light Luxury has a 5.8-inch 2220x1440 Super AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch 2960x1440 Super AMOLED screen. And while the Galaxy S8 has a Snapdragon 835 processor, the Galaxy S Light Luxury has a Snapdragon 660.
Other specs of the Galaxy S Light Luxury, include 16MP rear and 8MP front cameras, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, face unlock, wireless charging, and a 3000mAh battery.
Samsung's Galaxy S Light Luxury will launch in China on June 1st for 3999 yuan ($626 USD), but customers who pre-order one before then can get it for 3699 yuan ($579 USD).
The Galaxy S Light Luxury looks like a nice mid-range handset, borrowing features from Samsung's flagship hardware to make for a more premium device. It's unclear when or if the Galaxy S Light Luxury will be available outside of China, but folks that can't get one could also consider getting a Galaxy S8, which is still a nice device and is likely being discounted now that the Galaxy S9 is in stores.
