Yesterday, OnePlus followed through with its plans to announce its newest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6. As is par for the course, the smartphone company got the ball rolling weeks in advance, teasing out little bits of the upcoming device well ahead of its official unveiling. OnePlus knows how to build hype, because it has to keep word of mouth going.
And it looks like there is a lot to like about the OnePlus 6. The company has been consistently building upon its goodwill and design decisions for years now, and this latest smartphone makes a few important changes to welcome it into the smartphone race in 2018. That includes a notch, an all-glass design, and it even manages to hold onto the 3.5mm headphone jack for another year -- even as the company announces a pair of Bullets Wireless in-ear headphones.
But as usual, the major talking point for OnePlus and its newest smartphone is the price point. There is no denying anymore that OnePlus is ticking off the major talking points when it comes to high-end features in a phone that doesn't cost the same as its major competitors. The OnePlus 6 starts at $529, which comes with 64GB of built-in storage. Even if you want to jump up to the 256GB option, that's just $629.
That's a worthwhile price for such a device, and this is still OnePlus's greatest strength.
So here we are. Another year, another OnePlus smartphone, and I am wondering if any of you out there are already planning on picking one up. And this isn't a question for just the folks out there who haven't bought a OnePlus smartphone in the past, either. I'm curious if the OnePlus 6 is a handset you plan on buying, whether you've been a longstanding OnePlus customer, or if this might be your first foray into the Never Settle initiative.
Is the OnePlus 6 going to be your next daily driver? If it is, what about the handset has you ready to make the switch? And are you upgrading from the OnePlus 5T? And if the OnePlus 6 didn't grab your attention, what would you like to see OnePlus add or change before you'll consider switching? Let me know!
