Days after news broke that the U.S. Commerce Department was banning American companies from selling components to ZTE for seven years, the Chinese device maker has issued its response.
ZTE has said that the order from the U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) is "unfairly imposing the most severe penalty" before completing an investigation. ZTE adds that the BIS has ignored ZTE's efforts to make things right by taking measures against the employees who might've been responsible for the incident and by immediately taking corrective measures.
"The Denial Order will not only severely impact the survival and development of ZTE, but will also cause damages to all partners of ZTE including a large number of U.S. companies," ZTE explained in its response.
ZTE also says that despite the ban, it will continue working to resolve this problem and that it will take judicial measures to protect the rights and interests of its company, employees, and shareholders.
“We are aware of the investigation into GSMA’s process for developing eSIM standards that provide a better experience for consumers. Along with other GSMA members, we have provided information to the government in response to their requests and will continue to work proactively within GSMA, including with those who might disagree with the proposed standards, to move this issue forward.”
