Fortnite Battle Royale coming to Android and iOS devices

Fortnite Battle Royale official

Fortnite Battle Royale is one of the hottest video games around right now, and soon you'll be able to play it on the go.

Epic Games announced today that Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to mobile devices. Starting this Monday, March 12, iOS users will be able to sign up for the Invite Event at www.Fortnite.com, and email invitations will start rolling out shortly thereafter. Players who get invited will receive friend invite codes to share with others.

Fortnite Battle Royale will require iOS 11 and an internet connection. It'll support the iPhone 6S and up, iPhone SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad (2017) devices.

Epic says that Android support will roll out "in the next few months."

The Fortnite Battle Royale experience is expected to be the same on mobile as it is on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. "Same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates," says Epic. And because of Epic's partnership with Sony, Fortnite Battle Royale will support Cross Play and Cross Progression between PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and eventually Android. This means you'll be able to team up with players on other devices.

The game tasks you with dropping onto an island with 99 other players and if you're the last one alive, you win. It's by far one of the most popular games around right now, and so it's no surprise to see a mobile version coming. What will be interesting is seeing how Epic shrinks the whole experience down to a mobile device.

Do you play Fortnite Battle Royale? Will you try the game on iOS or Android?
