The Samsung Galaxy S9 made a notable change to its fingerprint reader placement compared to last year's Galaxy flagships, and now a new report says that the Galaxy Note 9 will make another big fingerprint reader change.
Samsung is "seriously considering" adding an in-display fingerprint sensor to the Galaxy Note 9. That's according to sources speaking to The Korea Herald, who say that Samsung Display has three or four options for an in-display fingerprint sensor and that both it and Samsung Electronics are "seriously considering one of the solutions."
Today's report also says that Samsung is expected to make a final decision this month on whether or not it'll put an in-display fingerprint sensor into the Note 9.
We've heard rumors of Apple, Samsung, and other companies being interested in using an in-display fingerprint sensor on their devices, but so far Vivo is the only company that's actually launched such a device. An in-display fingerprint sensor is an attractive feature because it helps to give your device a cleaner design and also puts the sensor in a pretty natural place, but we'll have to wait and see if Samsung is happy enough with the actual implementation of this feature to actually put it in a flagship phone.
Is an in-display fingerprint sensor a feature that you want in your next smartphone?
