Sony Xperia L1 launching today, affordable Android Nougat phone with 5.5-inch display

Sony Xperia L1 official black

A couple of weeks after launching the affordable Xperia XA1, Sony today released another Android phone that’s even easier on the wallet.

The Sony Xperia L1 launched today at a price of $199.99. It’s available at Amazon and Best Buy in black, white, and pink color options, though only the black and white versions are available to ship right now. Amazon says the pink model is a one to four weeks away from shipping, while Best Buy is just plain out of stock of that version.

As a refresher, the Xperia L1 is running Android 7.0 Nougat on a 5.5-inch 1280x720 display. It’s packing a quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, NFC, and a 2620mAh battery that you charge over USB-C. Also included are 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras.

Sony also touts that the Xperia L1 comes with Xperia Actions. This software feature attempts to learn your habits and then automatically perform actions for you. For example, if the phone notices that you dim your screen and turn on Do Not Disturb mode around the same time each night before bed, it’ll offer to begin doing those things automatically.

The Sony Xperia L1 slots into the entry-level, but it’s got an affordable price tag to go with it and features like a large screen with slim side bezels and a rounded frame that should make it easier to hold. If that sounds appealing to you, you can get a closer look at the Xperia L1 at the links below.
