With less than two weeks to go before the HTC U 11 makes its official debut, we’re getting perhaps our best look yet at the upcoming Android flagship.
Renders of the HTC U 11 have been shared by 91mobiles and @OnLeaks. Based on factory CADs, the images show a device with a round rear camera housing and dual LED flash, a USB-C port and speaker on the bottom, power and volume buttons on the right side, and antenna lines on the sides. The front of the phone is home to a camera above the display and a fingerprint reader below it.
In terms of specs, the HTC U 11 is expected to include a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 Super LCD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4/6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, and a microSD slot. There will reportedly be a 12-megapixel rear camera with UltraPixel 3 tech as well as a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. Powering the package will be a 3000mAh battery, and the body of the HTC U 11 is expected to be IP57 water resistant.
On the software side, the HTC U 11 will allegedly come preloaded with Android 7.1.1 below HTC’s custom Sense UI. The big feature here is called Edge Sense, which will reportedly let users squeeze the sides of the HTC U 11 and swipe its edges to perform actions. HTC is also expected to include BoomSound, Hi-Res Audio Playback, and more.
While it may not have the slim bezels or tall display of competitors like the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8, the HTC U 11 will compete with those devices on straight-up specs and will also focus on its Edge Sense feature. With it, the phone could be easier to use with one hand, despite the fact that it doesn’t have the slimmest bezels on the market.
