Google combines Android Pay and Google Wallet to create Google Pay

Google Pay logo official

Google first got into the mobile payments game with Google Wallet, then it launched Android Pay for buying things with your smartphone. Now Google has another new payment service.

Google Pay is now official. Google Pay is a combination of Android Pay and Google Wallet, and Google hopes that the new service will make it easier for you to pay for things.

With Google Pay, you can use the payment info stored in your Google Account to pay for things online, in stores, and across Google products. You can use Google Pay to pay your friends, too.

Google Pay is already live in several apps and services, including Airbnb, Dice, Fandango, HungryHouse, and Instacart.

Google had been offering the separate Google Wallet and Android Pay services for a while, and it's easy to see how having the two payment services could be confusing to consumers. Now Google is combining its payment efforts into a single service and using the well-known, broad "Google" name.
