Samsung exec talks Galaxy Note 8 debut, sales of Galaxy S8

Samsung Galaxy S8+ hands-on video review

We’re smack dab in the middle of Samsung’s two major smartphone releases for the year, and today a Samsung executive gave us an update on both devices.

Dongjin Koh, Samsung’s president of mobile communications, has said that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 8 at the end of August. That’s according to Digitimes, who says that Koh made the remark during a press conference in Taipei.

Koh went on to shoot down rumors that sales of the Galaxy S8 are slower than the Galaxy S7. The exec said that sales of the Galaxy S8 phones are 15 percent higher than their predecessors so far, adding that this sale momentum is likely to continue through the end of 2017.

Considering the disaster that Samsung endured with the recall and discontinuation of the Galaxy Note 7 last year, some folks might have thought that consumers would avoid the Galaxy S8 and that sales of that flagship would take a hit. Apparently that’s not the case, though, which is good news for Samsung. The Galaxy S8 is one of the best phones on the market right now, offering solid performance and a new, attractive design, and those aspects along with the S8’s wide availability are surely helping to push sales.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S8? If so, what do you think of it?
