It’s been awhile since we’ve heard any news about new Tizen smartphones, but that drought is ending today.
Samsung today announced the Z4, its newest Tizen-powered device. The Samsung Z4 runs Tizen 3.0 on a 4.5-inch 800x480 display and offers front and rear 5-megapixel cameras, each with its own flash. There’s also 1GB of RAM included, as well as a quad-core processor and a 2050mAh battery.
There’s 4G LTE connectivity included with the Samsung Z4, too, which is an upgrade over the 3G-equipped Samsung Z3. Samsung has thrown in support for VoLTE and VoWiFi here as well.
The Samsung Z4 will launch in select countries in May, starting with India. No pricing details have been disclosed.
Like the three Tizen phones that came before it, the Samsung Z4 is an entry-level device. The goal of Tizen has been to offer low-cost devices for folks shopping on a budget, though, and while we don’t yet have pricing info for the Samsung Z4, its spec list suggests that it’ll be pretty easy on the wallet.
