Moto Z2 Play spec details leak out

Moto Z2 Play image leak

Last month, images of the Moto Z2 Play surfaced, giving us a clear look at one of the new members of Moto’s Z family. Now spec details for the phone have leaked out, too.

The Moto Z2 Play will feature a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 Super AMOLED display, according to a report from VentureBeat, which is the same as last year’s model. Many of the Z2 Play’s other features are expected to be changed from last year’s model, though.

Moto’s Z2 Play will reportedly come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, up from 3GB and 32GB in last year’s model, as well as an octa-core Snapdragon 626 processor. The rear camera on the Moto Z2 Play will be a 12-megapixel camera with an f/1.7 aperture, and the front will be home to a 5-megapixel camera.

Perhaps the most notable change with the Moto Z2 Play involves its battery. The new device will reportedly have a 3000mAh battery, down from the 3510mAh battery found in the original Z Play. This is due to Motorola slimming the Moto Z2 Play down by a full millimeter compared to its predecessor.

One of the biggest selling points of the Moto Z Play has been its battery life, so it’s kind of strange to hear that Motorola may be substantially slimming down the battery included with the Moto Z2 Play. The 1080p resolution and Snapdragon 626 processor should help the Z2 Play in the battery life department, but it seems unlikely that the Z2 Play will be able to match the original model in that regard. Now we just have to wait for it to launch to see exactly how much battery life the Moto Z2 Play has to offer.
