Android users, you’ll soon see a new Play Store app icon on your home screens.
Google has tweaked the Play Store icon with the newest version of the app, v7.8.16. As spotted by Android Police, gone is the shopping bag that served as a reminder of the Android Market, which is the name that the Play Store went by before it was the Play Store. Now we’re left with just the colorful triangle logo.
This change extends to Play Store notifications, too. Previously, you’d see a small shopping back with a checkmark in the upper left corner of the notification when you successfully updated an app. Now you’ll see a triangle with a checkmark instead.
These tweaks are small, but they’re part of Google fully embracing its new Play Store identity, which is a good move. And while the change isn’t going to affect the way that you use your phone or anything like that, it is something that you’ll probably notice the first time that you look at your home screen after the update takes place.
What do you think of Google’s updated Play Store icon?
