Android 8.1 isn't really available on many devices outside of Google's Nexus and Pixel phones, but today another phone is being updated to the latest version of Oreo.
The Nokia 8 is now receiving an update to Android 8.1 Oreo. The rollout has been confirmed by Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global.
Nokia 8 owners have already started getting their Android 8.1 update, which includes the following improvements:
- Battery Saving Navigation Buttons
- Revamped Power Menu
- New Setting Menu
- Bluetooth Battery Percentage
- Update Google Security Patch 2018-02
It's great to see Android 8.1 expand to non-Nexus and non-Pixel devices, and HMD Global/Nokia are surely earning some goodwill with consumers for their fast Android updates. We've already seen HMD push Oreo to several of its other Nokia-branded phones, and now it's sending out an Android 8.1 update before many other major OEMs release Android 8.0 updates.
