Just a couple of weeks after it was announced that Nest would be joining Google, the two companies are teaming up to roll out a new feature for a Nest product.
The Nest Cam IQ indoor security camera is now getting Google Assistant. The feature is coming via an over the air software update that's starting to roll out today.
With Google Assistant, Nest Cam IQ owners can answer your questions, manage tasks like creating calendar appointments and reminders, and control smart home devices. Just say "Ok, Google" with your command and the Nest Cam IQ will spring into action.
One thing to note is that Google Assistant is not coming to any outdoor Nest products, like the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor.
Also announced by Nest today is a new Nest Aware subscription plan. There's now a 5-day plan that costs $5 per month in addition to the 10-day/$10 per month and 30-day/$30 per month plans.
With Nest Aware, customers get smarter alerts and 24/7 continuous video recording for their Nest devices. Nest Aware is also improving by being able to tell the difference between a person and a thing in your Activity Zones, and Nest Cam IQ indoor or outdoor camera owners can merge duplicate familiar faces of the same person in a photo collection.
