Apple surprised us all today with an announcement that an event is happening later this month.
Apple will host an event on March 27. The company sent out invitations today that show an Apple logo and the phrase "Let's take a field trip". That, combined with the fact that the event is being held at a high school in Chicago, suggest that this event will be focused on education.
As with all of its other events, Apple isn't saying what it's got in store for the show, only that it'll focus on "creative new ideas for teachers and students". Rumors have suggested that Apple is cooking up a new iPad model that's even more affordable than its current $329 model, so that could make an appearance at the event. It's said that this new iPad could cost $259.
Apple is also rumored to be prepping a lower-cost MacBook Air model that would also be aimed at the education market. The current MacBook Air starts at $999.
