One day after announcing plans to carry a 5G Samsung smartphone in spring 2019, AT&T today said that it'll have another 5G phone from Samsung later next year.
AT&T will launch a second 5G Samsung smartphone in the second half of 2019. While the phone coming in the first half of 2019 will support millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum, AT&T says that the device that's launching in the second half of the year will support both mmWave and sub-6GHz spectrum.
This is the third 5G device that AT&T has announced. The first is a Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot and the second is the aforementioned 5G Samsung phone that'll launch in the spring of 2019.
As for its 5G network, AT&T has built out 5G network tech in 12 cities where it plans to launch service in 2018. Those cities include Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Louisville, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Raleigh, San Antonio, and Waco. AT&T plans to expand 5G coverage in the first half of 2019 to parts of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco.
