Apple releases iOS 12.1.1 update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

iPhone XS Max hands-on

iPhone and iPad owners, it's time to update once again.

Apple today released iOS 12.1.1 to compatible devices. These include the iPhone 5s and later, iPad mini 2 and later, iPad Air and iPad Air 2, iPad 5th and 6th gen models, the iPad Pro models, and the iPod touch 6th generation. To get the update, grab your iOS device and go into Settings > General > Software Update.

As for what's new, the update to iOS 12.1.1 brings support for dual SIM and eSIM with the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR on additional carriers, and a notification preview using haptic touch on the iPhone XR. There are FaceTime improvements, too, like the ability to flip between the front and rear cameras with one tap and Live photo capture.

iOS 12.1.1 update changelog

Apple has included some bug fixes as well. iOS 12.1.1 squashes a bug where Face ID may become temporarily unavailable and another bug that prevented visual voicemail from downloading for some users. The update also patches a bug that caused time zones to not update automatically.

This update is now rolling out, so go grab it now!
