Google releases new Pixel 2 XL display settings, Pixel 2 clicking fix with November update

Google Pixel 2 XL hands-on video

Last month, Google said it'd roll out some display tweaks to the Pixel 2 XL to address all of the complaints about the screen. Today it followed through.

Google today unleashed its November security updates. There's a November 1, 2017 security update for Android devices as well as a November 5, 2017 security update for Nexus and Pixel devices. Google's Nexus and Pixel phones should start seeing the update today, but Google's also offering factory images if you'd rather flash the update that way.

Pixel 2 XL owners have several other changes to look forward to beyond the security patches. Google has added Boosted, Natural, and Saturated options to the Pixel 2 XL's settings so that you can tweak the display to whatever your eyes find most pleasing. The Pixel 2 XL is also getting navigation buttons that fade out and an updated maximum brightness to help prolong the life of its OLED screen.

Meanwhile, Pixel 2 owners are getting a fix for a clicking sound that was emitting from some devices.

If you've got a Nexus or Pixel device and you haven't yet gotten your November update, head into your Settings app and check for it. It's good to see Google roll out its Pixel 2 XL display tweaks and the fix for the Pixel 2 clicking so soon, and it'll be interesting to see how Pixel 2 XL owners feel about their new display options.
