After winning a sales ban on select iPhone models in China, Qualcomm has scored another victory in Germany.
Qualcomm today confirmed that it won a permanent injunction against Apple in Germany, meaning Apple must stop selling infringing iPhone models that use Intel chips and parts from Qorvo. Apple is planning to appeal the decision, but during that process, it says that it will pull its iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models from its 15 stores in Germany.
The injunction will go into effect as soon as Qualcomm posts the required bonds, which the company says will be completed "within a few days".
A sales ban is never a good thing, but at least for Apple this injunction affects its older iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models and not the iPhone XS, XS Max, or XR. Qualcomm has said that it's going after the XS and XR models in China, but so far we haven't heard anything else on that matter. Apple recently released an update to iOS 12.1.2 to try and get around the ban that was placed against it in China, but Qualcomm has said that it believes the phones remain banned.
