It's been a couple of months since Google last updated its Android platform distribution numbers, but the drought has finally come to an end today.
Google today shared its latest Android platform distribution stats, which measure the different versions of Android that were used to access the Play Store during the 7-day period ending April 16, 2018. Android Oreo (8.0 and 8.1) saw quite a growth in usage from the last time these numbers were updated back in early February, going from 1.1 percent to 4.6 percent.
Usage of Android Nougat (7.0 and 7.1) grew substantially, too, going from 28.5 percent in February to 30.8 percent in April. All other versions of Android either saw their usage hold steady or decline from February to April.
Android Marshmallow (6.0) usage dropped from 28.1 percent in February to 26.0 percent in April, while usage of Android Lollipop (5.0 and 5.1) fell from 24.6 percent to 22.9 percent. Android KitKat usage slipped from 12.0 percent in February to 10.5 percent in April and Android Jelly Bean (4.1-4.3) dropped from 5.0 percent in February to 4.5 percent in April.
Rounding out this latest batch of numbers if Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and Android Gingerbread (2.3) holding steady at 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.
