Android Wear 2.8 update brings darker background, better notification glanceability

Android Wear 2.8 update darker background

A new Android Wear update is now rolling out, and it brings with it a couple of nifty new features.

Android Wear version 2.8 adds a new darker background that Google says will help improve readability. The theme gives your watch a black background, which could help to improve battery life on watches with OLED displays.

The update also offers "improved notification glanceability." This means that notifications have a new layout that'll show more of your message at a glance.

These new features are now rolling out as part of an update to the Android Wear app. While the changelog for the update is rather small, the two new features that do come with Android Wear v2.8 sound pretty nice, improving readability of notifications and for general use of your watch.

If you've got an Android Wear smartwatch, keep an eye out for this update in the coming days.
