Following last year’s Galaxy Note 7 battery disaster, it’s been revealed that another Galaxy Note phone is having battery issues.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission today issued a recall for batteries in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. This recall is a bit different than the one that was issued for the Galaxy Note 7, though, because this one affects a very specific subset of batteries.
The US CPSC is recalling batteries used in refurbished AT&T Galaxy Note 4 units by FedEx Supply Chain and distributed through AT&T’s insurance program. It’s been determined that some of the recalled batteries are counterfeit and show anomalies that could result in the batteries overheating. It’s important to note that these batteries are not made by Samsung.
This recall affects about 10,200 batteries which were included in refurbished AT&T Galaxy Note 4 phones between December 2016 and April 2017. So far there’s been one report of a counterfeit battery overheating, but there’s been no injuries or property damage reported.
