LG V30 software teaser hints at Floating Bar, Face Recognition features

LG V30 software teaser UX 6.0+

Another day, another LG V30 teaser. LG today teased the V30’s “upgraded UX”, which the company says offers more ways to personalize your software experience and make it more convenient.

One new feature coming with LG UX 6.0+ on the V30 is Floating Bar, an evolution of the Second Screen feature found on previous V series phones that gives you quick access to frequently used actions. This semi-transparent Floating Bar can also be dragged off-screen when not needed.

LG also touts the updated Always-on Display on the V30, which can now show the clock, Quick Tools, Music Player, as well as a photo that you’ve taken.

Graphy is a photography feature that’ll let you view and download photos taken by professionals, then apply presets like white balance, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO to photos taken with the V30. LG’s new phone also offers shooting modes like grid shot, snap shot, match shot, and manual mode; the ability to create GIFS in the Gallery; and a Create Movie feature that’ll let you create movies using photos and video files.

When it comes to security, the LG V30 offers Face Recognition so that you can unlock your phone using its front-facing camera, even with the screen off. There’s also a Voice Recognition feature that uses Qualcomm’s low power Aqstic voice tech and lets you use your voice and self-generated keywords.

Finally, LG says that the V30 will let you customize its haptic feedback, including vibration combinations to match the ringtone.

With today’s teaser, we’re getting an early look at the LG V30’s software and what seems like confirmation that the new flagship will ditch the second screen found on previous V series phones. Instead of having a full-on mini display above the main screen, LG is going with a transparent floating bar that can be hidden when it’s not needed. This move also helps to minimize bezels on the V30 and give the effect that you’re just holding a display.
